What an awesome time we’ve had this evening. I had made up a tray of jelly for the babies to mess about with at the Halloween party but we never had time to get it out. It was made with gelatin sachets and black and red food colouring to give it a spooky affect. I also threw in some dry pasta spirals to look like worms. We set it up in the kitchen and invited Peter to have a play. At first he studied the red jelly bits wobbling about and uttered alot of “whoas!”. Then he started to prod it and squeal with delight, as if he was doing something he shouldn’t.
Then as you can see he got really stuck in and started scooping his hands through the mixture. He was very excited to find the white pasta worms amongst the black jelly. Then he decided to drop it on the floor, I can’t blame him it looked quite sparkly and glisteny with the spot lights on it. Next it was time for flinging, this bit was hilarious although not for the faint hearted. Jelly bits were splattered over the cupboards, walls and all through Peter’s hair and clothes.
Luckily we timed this activity right before bath time and everything cleaned up pretty fast. Although it wasn’t for eating, I’m going to count this as making “a very exciting jelly!” for my 101 things in 1001 days list. What a cool night!
