Wow, we can’t believe the time has finally come to start weening Peter. That seems crazy! To be honest he hasn’t shown that much interest in us eating and he still sleeps pretty much through the night but we couldn’t hold off much longer as he’ll be six months this week.
I whizzed up some butternut squash, which is one of my favourites because of the sweetness. First spoonful to his lips and he didn’t seem overly impressed, keeping his lips tight shut. So I gave him a spoon loaded with puree and amazingly it went straight in his mouth! He hasn’t even had the co-ordination to get toys in his mouth up to now, so imagine our astonishment when he held the spoon with an almost seemingly grace!
It was a real delight to watch him enjoying something new. He really loved it and went on to eat the whole pot. We just kept changing spoons over. Thankfully we got an easy wipe high chair, bib and table cloth as the mess is not for the faint hearted. There was puree everywhere!
I can’t really care about that though, just pleased it all went well. After taking off the bib, there was still puree on his top. We think there are going to be a lot more clothes changing in the days ahead.
Afterwards he went straight in his bath!
